My daughter barely used the textbook it is new condition, if we sell it to the college bookstore they will only give us about half of the purchase price. I would like more than that for it. I know I will probably not get what I paid for it but would like to get the majority of it.

-If there is an independent textbook store around, they might give you more.
-Some universities have a textbook swap or sale program - see if yours does this.
-You could put up a notice on campus to see if someone taking the course in the fall would like to buy the book
-You could post it on ebay, amazon, or someplace like that.

I sell all of my text books on amazon, but it is unlikely that you will recover more than half of your costs. Here is how to do it:
1.) Type your ISBN number into a search engine like Google first. You will find several online book sellers who already have copies of your book posted. I recommend Amazon, because I prefer the seller support they offer. With an ISBN number Amazon will show you how much the book is selling new and used. If if is a popular book, you can expect to get the median price for yours. If it is not a popular book, expect to charge less than the cheapest few books available. The fact that it is in excellent condition might beat out a few poor copies, but you need to remember that people go there to get a bargain. They'll by a book without a covers if that means saving a few bucks.
2.) Go to your school bookstore, local independent stores etc to see how much they will give you. Even if they give you slightly less than an online dealer, take it if it's close. Selling online adds additional costs (commissions, shipping fees, etc.)
3.) Since it is close to the beginning of the semester, try to post a flier first, but save your money and post it primarily near the classrooms, or in the departments associated with your book.
Unfortunately, the likelihood that you can hope to get back much more than your bookstore is offering are slim. 50% of the purchase price for a used book is pretty good. Our bookstore usually only returns about 11 - 30 %

What to tell your principal if someone has stolen your textbook?
Ok so here is the deal. I had my mathbook with me the other day. Between the time I left it in my locker and the next day, it was gone. I have checked every possible place and I think someone stolen it. How do I tell my principal someone has taken my textbook. Oh and I also had my book I was reading which was also stolen.What to tell your principal if someone has stolen your textbook?
Don't say "stolen." Be diplomatic. Say that you left it in your locker (mention if you locked it and if anyone has the combination) and that the next day it was "missing." That way you anticipate the principal's questions, answer them before they are asked, and don't make any accusations. The principal can come to his or her own conclusions as to what happened.
tell him/her "Principal i think someone stole my math textbook " then keep on questioning and answering as you chat with the principal and he/she will tell you to be more responsible and might give you a new one but as he/her is questioning you have to think before you act or else it will take a quite a long time or you mistake something that you mean to say . Like one time our teacher was giving us a very easy one (1+1)and i mistake it with multiplying and i say 1 and i got embarrassed and got joke around. Many people buy and sell used textbooks every year. Or maybe the person has a younger sibling who can't afford the textbook. You can't say it was stolen if you abandoned it outside. The person who found it was not a thief. Your carelessness does not entitle you to cast aspersions on others.
Other theories: they had carelessly lost theirs, just as you did, and were glad of a replacement. Or if you were absent-minded enough to leave it outside, maybe you forgot where you left it and it is still there. Or it was found by someone who dislikes you enough to relish getting you in trouble by hiding your book.

I'm hoping to teach, and write a textbook, and I'd love to do both in new ways. What stuff in your organic textbook was completely useless? What was really confusing? Just give any opinion you got. Best Answer will go to the most insightful.How were your organic chemistry class and textbook?
Just an opinion, but let us say you found something that was really insightful. I'd argue that it would have to be different in how it is taught. Now the challenge becomes, who would use it?
I have had the chance to look at a number of textbooks. I think a legitimate question you might ask is whether teaching reaction mechanisms ought to be a priority? Books that are organized by reaction mechanism (which I favor) are in the minority. I believe that reaction mechanisms in and of themselves are insightful. I am surprised and dismayed to find as many professors that have abandoned some of the books that use that methodology.
Although I did not have the statistical strength of the larger schools and classes, I was surprised to find that my median students were about five percentile points higher on the ACS organic exam with a mechanism based text than a functional group based text. Students that know reactions mechanisms will do better on that exam than those that do not. (A mechanism is a rational description of how the electrons move in leading to a final product, again, an insightful method.)
I believe I had in some small ways succeeded in creating an innovative organic workbook. I would like to write a textbook, but that would be a pretty tall order. Using my book, I was able to raise my class average on the ACS organic chemistry exam by twenty percentile points. well! teaching chemistry is not something which can be learned just by observation. u have to get practically involved in the teaching process. use your own chemistry teacher's teaching styles to develop ur own containing the positive aspects of those all.
Writing organic chemistry book in a NEW WAY is again a painstaking task. u have to go through all the available books, notes etc to do so.
I didnt find any USELESS stuff in my organic chemistry book. Its not just the book which teaches chemistry. its the TEACHER who clarifies the concepts in the minds of students and prepares them in such a way that they do not fully depend upon one specific book.
A good teacher makes his students understand the basic concepts and also develop in them a habit of thinking and solving (not copying) the assignments and work sheets assigned to them as their class work or homework.
Its just the same thing as when you see someone swimming its looks easy and you can comment on that too. But once you yourself jump into the waters then you really know the inner situation (of water as well as of your body and mind).
Its easier said than done so start working and it really helps to sit in the lectures of different senior chemistry teachers. Best of luck.jet ski google translations

What is the best way to manage or bind a loose leaf textbook?
I managed to accidentally get a loose leaf textbook rather than a hardcover. The textbook cannot be returned. I am wondering if anyone has experience with these and could recommend the best way to manage or bind the loose leaf book. I have put it in a 3 ring binder, but it doesn't seem to be very functional, it is difficult to turn the pages, pages feel like they could/will rip out VERY easily, etc. Just seems like there has to be a better way! Go to Staples, Office Depot (or Wegman's LOL), and buy adhesive reinforcements. These are little plastic or fabric circles on wax paper that you peel off and put over the holes of the three-ring punched sheets. They keep pages from tearing out.

Hi, I am in grade 11 and planning to take AP biology during my grade12 year(since i have 2 spare classes, i will have plenty of time to study) I have decided that I am going to be using Campbell's biology textbook.
