How to cite a quote within a textbook?

My textbook has a passage I would like to incorporate into my own paper. This passage is itself a quote within the textbook and is cited by the author in a footnote. Should I cite that footnote and the textbook or just ignore the textbook citationHow to cite a quote within a textbook?
You should cite both. Suppose it's a quotation from a letter by George Washington; you would cite it as "George Washington, letter of May 3, 1791, to Thomas Jefferson, quoted in Mary Q. Historian, _History of the Revolutionary War_ (New York: Big Publishing Co., 2008), p. 123."
