Where can I get a full text copy of a first chapter of a textbook online?

I ordered the textbook a few weeks ago, but have still not received it in the mail. I have an assignment due in two days and need to read the first chapter by then to write a short discussion paper. I have looked just about everywhere online, but cannot find a full text copy of the first chapter. I;ve tried all of the search engines, as well as sparknotes.com, cliffnotes.com, and a great deal of "free online library sites." The book is "Literacy: A Critical Sourcebook" by Ellen Cushman et. al. Any help would be appreciated!Where can I get a full text copy of a first chapter of a textbook online?
Many times the school's library will have a copy of the textbooks being used for coursework, either available for checkout or on reserve for use in the library only. Alternately, if there is a campus bookstore (assuming this is a college course), maybe you can read the first chapter in there. I doubt you'll be able to find the book online. can you borrow the book from a friend or roomate?
