Did you ever read a school textbook straight through like you would when you are reading for pleasure?

I use to be able to get by with reading very little of the textbook, but now I'm starting to think that my classes would be easier if I'd actually read the chapters in the textbook. I'm in my 3rd year in College. Did you ever read a Textbook straight through?Did you ever read a school textbook straight through like you would when you are reading for pleasure?
Yes - but not much point unless you are doing it as a 'survey' to get an idea of what you will be covering. Textbooks are like cookbooks. . . use them when you need them and reference them often. However marathon sessions rarely result in a net benefit.Did you ever read a school textbook straight through like you would when you are reading for pleasure?
I often did that with history textbooks, because I love history.

I also read ALL of the textbooks for my other classes, though usually a chapter at a time. And yes, you will do better in your classes if you do all of the assigned reading and at least some of the suggested reading as well.

I've taught college students. Believe me, the ones who perform the best are the ones who do the reading, whatever native talents and intelligence they may possess.
