Does information in a history textbook count as a primary source?

I am doing the history fair and this whole primary and secondary source thing is very confusing. Could you please explain the difference and tell me if I could use info. from my history textbook as a primary source.

Thank You.Does information in a history textbook count as a primary source?
No, a primary source would be getting the information from an actual person who experienced the event, or information written in the exact time period of the event. Examples include:

ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS (excerpts or translations acceptable): Diaries, speeches, manuscripts, letters, interviews, news film footage, autobiographies, official records
CREATIVE WORKS: Poetry, drama, novels, music, art
RELICS OR ARTIFACTS: Pottery, furniture, clothing, buildings

The textbook, although reliable and informative, should be counted as a secondary source, because it analyzes and interprets primary sources. Examples include:

PUBLICATIONS: Textbooks, magazine articles, histories, criticisms, commentaries, encyclopedias
