Does New York State have a law that requires textbook accuracy?

I'm doing research for a school newspaper article about lies in public school science textbooks, so I would also like information relating to New York State's laws on textbook accuracy. Links would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!Does New York State have a law that requires textbook accuracy?
Not exactly. Sections 701 through 705 of the Education Law contain the text-book statute. The selection and approval of text books is made by each school board. No doubt, if a school district were to prescribe textbooks that are patently false (historical revisionism, for example) the State Board of Regents would prorogue the school board, but I have not heard of any complaints of this sort being filed.
