How do I know if this is the same textbook when they have different ISBNs?

I need to get a textbook, and the cheapest I can find is an ebook, but it has a different ISBN than the hard copy. It says it's the same edition, same name, same author. Is there some sort of rule that states that an ebook needs a new ISBN? Or will the book be substantially different from what I might need? How do I know if this is the same textbook when they have different ISBNs?
Just by nature of the ebook there are going to be different formats (Kindle, Sony, etc.) so they would most likely have different ISBNs to differentiate the available formats. It would definitely be something to discuss with your instructor though as he/she would most likely have greater access to definitive proof. How do I know if this is the same textbook when they have different ISBNs?
Um.... if your instructor is available, I prefer you ask him.

Anyway, in studies, I usually find the textbooks that all look alike.

If you are having troubles, buy the book ( ONLY IF YOU CAN RETURN IT)

and have a talk with your instructor if that textbook would work.
