I need a book in hand. Try used.
I own a Nook and have downloaded some books. I buy a lot of used books that I get very cheaply. For studying though, I would rather have a physical book that you buy from your campus book store for several reasons although it is more expensive that way. The reasons are that when you have to electronically access a book it takes a bit more time that way every time you do it. You cannot see the illustration and the pages in their entirety.
Schools love electronic books because they are easier to handle and ship and it does cost anything to ship them. They cost nothing to store. There is very little risk.
The fact that students are never happy with them doesn't really matter that much. Students complain about everything anyway.
The reason you do not want to buy a used book from a seller like Amazon (and I love Amazon) is that you are unlikely to get the edition you think you are buying. Sellers just want to sell it cheap and they do not pay the amount of attention to book editions that they should. Your school pays a lot of attention to edition. How likely are you to return a book you only paid $20 for when you would have had to pay $150 otherwise? You won't, and yet when you fail a test because you did not have the page that information was one, you won't even know.Should I rent a physical textbook by hand or rent a textbook on NookStudy?
I think that physical books are better because sometimes professors want you to turn to a specific page and its easier to find. I also think that they are safer. You don't have to really worry about it breaking or your battery dying or anything.
You can rent books really cheap at www.rurenting.bookrenterstore.com They have them for up to 80% less.
Have you considered buying the book secondhand. It could work out to be cheaper and then you could sell it afterwards. Try googling the book for some prices.Should I rent a physical textbook by hand or rent a textbook on NookStudy?
it'd probably be best to rent a physical textbook because most teachers will want that over a textbook on your laptop. hope this helps.
