I have to read a 20 page chapter in my economics textbook. Whenever I read these chapters, they're really boring and I lose focus easily. I'm sorry, it's just hard for me to pay attention....
Should I read a page every 15 minutes silently to myself or should I read the chapter allowed to myself and take breaks every 4 or 5 pages? What's the best way to read/study this chapter from my textbook?
I found the best way to process all that dry information was to write an outline of the chapter as I go. It takes a little longer, but it keeps you engaged in the reading process because you are focused on whittling it down to the core points instead of just trying to absorb all the words. It also helps commit it to memory when you write it down after you read it. Then when you're done, you have an outline to use as a study guide to brush up again before an exam.
what i use to do in school is with each topic read the first and last paragraph of every topic then read the first sentence of each paragraph in between.
the first paragraph tells you what u'll be reading about. the last paragraph gives you a summary of what you just read. reading the first sentences of each paragraph in between will tell you of ur own personal knowledge of the topic if you already know of the subject from the past then u don't have to read it. if you don't then read it.
It's called skimming and usually you tend to remember the information you read better then reading it all straight through.
hope that was helpfulWhat's the best way to read/study this chapter from my textbook?
Make a page of notes for each page you read. Once you've memorized all of the key points go take a walk (Or whatever you choose - 5-10 minutes of something). Once you come back, review the notes and make sure you understand them.
Repeat with the second page. Once you get back review page one and two. Keep doing this until you're finished.
Depending on your age, I'd take breaks every so often. people's attention spans are relative to their ages. If you're fifteen, study for 15 minutes then take a break. If you're 18, study for 18 minutes then take a break. Etc.What's the best way to read/study this chapter from my textbook?
The second option is more suitable.
Page-wise study won't help to understand the concept. You are not studying History or Geography.
listning to classical music is supposed to help you concentrate
