Is notetaking on textbook information in highschool necessary?

HS textbooks on global history and biology don't seem to go too much into detail, and everything is pretty much organized into major points, sub points, etc. So aside from the notes the teacher gives in class, is notetaking on textbook information in highschool necessary?Is notetaking on textbook information in highschool necessary?

You'll find out if you need to take notes or not in your classes after taking a serious test in each. Some teachers use the textbook as their guide or bible. Others use their lecture notes as their main point of reference on their test writing. Whether or not your teachers are all one way or another, taking notes on what you've read will help you to understand what the teacher lectures as well. Take notes on what you have trouble understanding or remembering from your books. This is true for lectures too. It's a waste of time and effort to make notes on that which you already fully grasp and recall at will. Notes are supposed to be your helpful friend or tutor. They should serve your needs, not your idealized image of a note-taking scholar. I wish I'd realized all this while still in school! I was too anal about the whole business. Take notes on anything for which you need notes.
If you can bring the textbook home, how does it help? It may sum up the info, but you have the book in front of you. It's just more work for your hands. Textbooks help as well as lectures from your teachers. A combo of both, basically. Research can also be useful or even tutoring.

no. the history they teach is in highschool is bullshit. they don't go in deep enough and don't talk about actual moral situations and such. when i don't get a good enough explanation from school in history, i look it up online and get the "big" picture. that's why i have a 90 in the class. and cuz history to me is like a story telling clas =p.
