What is the best way to take notes from a biology textbook?

There are so much information to know/learn and I am stuck on organizing a good note-taking and study habit! Please tell me your successful note-taking skills! Thanks!

Also, my professor gives out a detailed outline of lecture notes and lecture slides, and he said that info in the textbook is just as important as lectures. So, I just want to know how I should take notes from the readings w/ association to my professor's lecture notes/slides.What is the best way to take notes from a biology textbook?
You should remember, that definitions and short facts are very important, and, I think, it's all. Try to imagine that biology looks like history, just read and enjoy, all the necessary information will be in your head. Good luck!!!!
