Is a textbook really needed or is the internet enough?

I am a college student. Do I really need to purchase a textbook or is the use of the internet for research enough for subjects at school? (like nutrition subjects, meal management subject, etc.)Is a textbook really needed or is the internet enough?
The book is usually useful. You check with your teacher and see how much the book is used.

A lot of the time, the book may be online or if the book offers a web page as a study guide, in which case a book isn't always necessary. Also, the library will often have the book that you can look at there. Thrift stores will sometimes have the book or check the internet for an older edition, often times the prof will allow use of an older edition, but I would strongly recommend study groups if you plan on going without a book, that way you will know what you are missing out on so you can get more info on that. Make sure that if you don't get the book for the class, that you have access to it somewhere. Is a textbook really needed or is the internet enough?
Books will be always needed whether you like it or not... well at least for now. in the near future, college students will be expected to carry a device where you can download books such as a Kindle, Nook, Ipad etc. Its already happening to many of private colleges, its just a matter of time...

But if your're planning to use mainly internet keep in mind that the instructor will most of the time teach and assign homework from a text book.
