I need to read my American Government textbook but I don't have it with me. Is there a site online where I might be able to read it from?

Hi, if you can get the exact name of the book or the author name you can usually find the publisher's website through Google. On the publisher's website you might find demos/full chapters available to read online. Worst case scenario a lot of the publisher websites now let you purchase the chapters online, so you only have to buy what you absoultely need at the time. Amazon often has individual chapters available too, as do some of of the newer etextbook providers.
